The Story of Paap

Kaya's mission to find Llahmo

The movie begins with Kaya (Udita Goswami), a young Buddhist nun who lives in a monastery in Spiti Valley. She has been raised by Lama Norbu (Mohan Agashe), the head of the monastery, who believes that she is the reincarnation of his deceased daughter. Kaya has a special bond with Llahmo (Ahsan Baksh), a young boy who lives in a nearby village with his father. Lama Norbu tells Kaya that Llahmo is the reincarnation of a legendary Buddhist teacher, and that he has to be brought to the monastery for his spiritual training.

Kaya sets out to find Llahmo, but she faces resistance from his father, who does not want to lose his son. Kaya also learns that Llahmo has a rare blood disorder that requires regular transfusions. She manages to convince Llahmo's father to let her take him to the monastery, promising to take care of his medical needs.

Llahmo's witness of a murder

On their way to the monastery, Kaya and Llahmo stop at a hotel in Delhi, where they encounter Shiven (John Abraham), a police officer who is staying in the same hotel. Shiven is intrigued by Kaya and tries to flirt with her, but she rebuffs him. Shiven also notices Llahmo and feels a connection with him.

That night, Llahmo witnesses a murder in the hotel. He sees Rane (Gulshan Grover), a powerful politician, killing a woman in his room. Rane notices Llahmo and tries to chase him, but Shiven intervenes and saves him. Shiven realizes that Llahmo is the only witness of the murder and decides to protect him from Rane and his goons.

Shiven's involvement and protection of Llahmo

Shiven takes Kaya and Llahmo to his home, where he lives with his mother (Anahita Uberoi). He tells them that they are not safe in the hotel and that he will help them reach the monastery. He also informs his boss (Denzil Smith) about the murder and asks for backup.

Shiven develops a friendship with Llahmo and learns more about his background and condition. He also feels attracted to Kaya and tries to impress her with his charm and humor. He even teaches her how to ride a bike and takes her to see the Taj Mahal.

However, Rane is not willing to give up on finding Llahmo. He uses his influence and contacts to track them down and sends his men to kill them. Shiven fights off the attackers and manages to escape with Kaya and Llahmo. He also exposes Rane's involvement in the murder to the media and the public.

The conflict between Kaya and Shiven

Kaya is grateful to Shiven for saving her and Llahmo, but she is also conflicted about her feelings for him. She knows that she has taken a vow of celibacy as a nun and that she has a duty to deliver Llahmo to the monastery. She also feels guilty for lying to Lama Norbu about her whereabouts and for breaking the rules of her order.

Shiven is aware of Kaya's dilemma and respects her decision. He tells her that he loves her but he will not force her to choose between him and her faith. He also tells her that he will support whatever she decides.

Kaya is torn between her love for Shiven and her loyalty to Lama Norbu. She decides to leave Shiven and take Llahmo to the monastery, hoping that it will be the best for everyone.

The climax and resolution of the movie

Kaya reaches the monastery with Llahmo, but she finds out that Lama Norbu has passed away. She is devastated by the news and regrets leaving Shiven. She also learns that Lama Norbu had left a letter for her, in which he reveals that he knew about her relationship with Shiven and that he was happy for her. He tells her that she is not his daughter's reincarnation, but his daughter's soulmate, and that she should follow her heart.

Meanwhile, Shiven arrives at the monastery, having followed Kaya's trail. He reunites with Kaya and professes his love for her. He also tells her that he has arranged for Llahmo's treatment in Delhi and that he will take care of him as his own son.

Kaya realizes that Shiven is her true love and that she wants to be with him. She decides to renounce her nunhood and accept Shiven's proposal. She also thanks Lama Norbu for his guidance and blessing.

The movie ends with Kaya, Shiven, and Llahmo leaving the monastery together, happy and hopeful for their future.
