
Code of Conduct
Catching Fire exists to ensure that all members of the Catching Fire Catholic
Young Adult ministry can grow in faith, virtue, to foster a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable
Christ-centered environment and experience in which:

Faith & Mission

All Members, ages 18-39, are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with Catholic teaching and values.

Prayer, worship, and spiritual formation are central to the group; members should participate respectfully.

Members are encouraged to foster a culture of charity, humility, and unity, while making an effort to grow in virtue.
Respect for Others

Treat all members, leaders, clergy, and guests with dignity, kindness, and courtesy.

No harassment, bullying, gossip, intimidation, or discriminatory behavior of any kind.

Respect boundaries—physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Disagreements should be handled with patience, charity, and maturity.
Safety & Conduct

Members must act responsibly at all group events, both on and off church property.

Alcohol (if permitted at specific events) must be consumed responsibly and legally. Intoxication is not acceptable.

Illegal substances, dangerous behavior, or possession of weapons is prohibited.

Members should refrain from behavior that could cause scandal or undermine the witness of the group.
Relationships & Interactions

Romantic relationships should reflect Christian virtue and mutual respect.

No coercive, manipulative, or inappropriate behavior toward other members.

For members that are new to the community, refrain from pursuing a romantic relationship with them to ensure their integration and security within the ministry.
Communication

Online and in-person communication should be uplifting, respectful, and free from obscene or degrading content.

Group chats and social media spaces must be used responsibly and in alignment with the group’s mission.

Confidential or sensitive personal information shared within the group should be treated with discretion.
Participation & Responsibility

Members are encouraged to attend events consistently and contribute positively to group life.

Repeated disruption, disrespect, or violation of guidelines may result in a conversation with leadership and, if necessary, restricted participation.

Members should communicate with leaders if an issue arises that affects group safety or harmony.
Leadership Expectations

Leaders are called to serve with humility, integrity, and accountability.

Leaders will strive to create a welcoming environment and address concerns promptly and fairly.

Leaders have the responsibility to uphold and enforce this Code of Conduct.

Leaders hold the right to coach behaviors observed by members via verbal warning, suspension and expulsion.
Commitment

By participating in the Catholic Young Adult Ministry, members agree to uphold these expectations, seek personal growth, and support the faith community with charity and respect.
